"Angry Trainer" is not a misnomer
A while back someone posted a link to Angry Trainer Fitness and reading through Alfonso’s stuff, I was delighted to find a professional who believes in common sense rather than trendy nonsense. I really enjoy reading his articles, and I love that he personally responds to questions, usually in a pretty timely fashion. (Longer if you go the Ask Alfonso route.)
From there I eventually wound...

tennis nerd: Female Super Heroes →
C writes about female superheroes. As someone who actually reads comic books, too.
In related news, if I hear one more person get excited that Anne Hathaway is playing Catwoman, I will cry. She is all wrong for the role, inside and out.

wonder woman kicks ass
Ladies and gentleman, the mysterious C. He is so supportive I can’t even describe it to you.
I constantly ask myself, "Why am I doing this?"
asquatosaur:
Is it because I want to look hot to impress people? Partially, of course. But that’s just a side effect.
I’m doing this because I know by body is capable of amazing things. I’m doing it because I can be stronger, run faster, be better. I’m doing this so that I can emit the self-confidence that I know I’m capable of having.
I’m doing this, primarily, because I respect myself and my...

I don't want to be fragile
I don’t want to be told “oh you look so skinny!” I don’t want anyone to look at me and have the impression that they could pick me up with one arm, or break me if they hug me too hard.
I want to be strong. Not just kind of strong, but really strong. I want to have a real presence, a physicality that warns you about just the kind of woman I am. I want to be a bad-ass in...

“I don’t want to be the fat friend any more” is not a great reason to lose weight. Not nearly as good as “I want to be able to do this task without feeling winded” or similar. Because if you feel like the fat friend now, you will feel like the fat friend ten, twenty, thirty, even fifty pounds from now - being the “fat friend” is all in...

The third rule of being beautiful: Recognize the...
Even if you haven’t seen Mean Girls, you probably knew or know a girl like Regina George: physically flawless, but horrifically catty; a girl who doesn’t gain stature by building herself up, but by decimating everyone around her.
That kind of attitude is not part of real beauty.
If you stop bashing your own body, but freely allow yourself to bash others, you are still steeped in...
OH MY GAWD
That ab workout from earlier? Yeesh. That is aspirational. I just want to be able to do it. Too intense.
turbogirl asked: I just wanted to tell you that I'm loving your blog and wish I had found it sooner! You have a wonderful way with words and I love reading your posts. :)
Dear Tumblr Weight Loss Blogs,
lazydieterwrites:
I refuse to feel weird because I don’t want my thighs to be as wide as my kneecaps. That’s freakish and unattractive. K thanks. Sincerely,
No Gap Forever
Ugh, dealing with such cattiness from a real life friend. I just wrote and then deleted a very long post about her self-centeredness, but then I realized: why focus on her, when I can focus on my own issues? I have a lot going on right now and it is all worth my while. I’m progressing in my health, slowly but surely. I’m trying to bust out of a rut at work. I’m moving in...
Get in My Pants - Workout Undies Exposed. →
Can I just say how much I love fitvillains? This is another great article. But one caveat: remember that when you buy, you vote with your dollars, and all Lycra-containing products send profits back to Koch Industries. If you don’t identify with the Tea Party, avoid Lycra. But hey, if you do, go for it.

The human animal operates on GIGO
Garbage in, garbage out. If you eat garbage, you get garbage results from your waistline. If you put garbage effort into your workouts, you get garbage results from your muscles. If you let garbage thoughts linger in your mind, you will have a garbage self-image no matter what size you are. Negative motivation might produce physical results, but it hinders mental results. You want to make a...
Sweet. Found my workout for tonight! →
So I found this great trainer's website
And he’s all motivational and philosophically aligned (Fad diets are bad! Functional fitness is good! Moderation is your friend!) and I think it’s a good match, so I go to write down one of his workouts to do at the gym tonight.
And that is so not happening, because this workout has FIVE CIRCUITS, excluding the warmup, all of which in are meant to be performed three times over....

Two out of five women and one out of five men would trade three to five years of their life to achieve their weight goals.
Source: www.colorado.edu
Hey, guess what? You can continue to live your life making small changes to your diet and activity levels and in three to five years you will achieve your (realistic) weight goals. So what the heck is stopping you?
Wow. Today’s TMI Tuesday is really living up to it’s name. I am deeply apologetic to all of the guys that follow me.

Okay - tampons, or pads? xD! If tampons, how old were you when you started using them?

TMI Tuesday!
Man I woke up this morning and thought I’d missed TMI Tuesday. Then I realized I just wanted today to be Wednesday so this week could be over sooner. I’m not sure which of those thoughts let me down more. Anyway, have at my ask! Just please understand that my darling boyfriend is a very private person so I won’t answer questions about him or our relationship.

No excuses. Beautiful girls (and guys!) don’t bash their bodies, they embrace them - and beautiful girls come in all shapes and sizes. The first step to being beautiful is learning that you already are.
losingitall asked: A great tip I read if you are worried about injuries when running, just look up towards the sky, such a simple thing to do but you can't think negatively when you look up in the sky :)
I read this in my Runners World magazine about a month ago, I was so pleased to read this and tested it out as I was a little worried myself!

Non-scale victory: boyfriend edition
C and I are in a long-distance relationship, which sucks. It has been that way since December 2008, and that is finally coming to an end in May when I move up. Until then, we use skype as a substitute for time together. Yesterday, I was showing him a new outfit I bought for spring, and an hour or so later, C texts me

Agree. I’m like 66% legs, and I am loving it. I want them big, strong, and horse like. I want to look like a Terry Dodson chick. LOL
I was just talking this weekend about the sudden realization that unrealistic boobage aside, I basically have a comic book build. And I am A-OK with that because I want to get my cosplay on. C’s roommates...

Weigh-in Day
HW: 197
SW: 183.5
PW: 181.5
CW: 182
After two weeks of depression-induced non-logging of calories and skipping of exercise days (mostly weights) I only gained back half a pound. That makes me feel better because I was trying that entire time to get back with it, and to eat reasonably. That gain means I was probably eating around 250 extra calories a day, which is not bad at all.
I’m...

It is less than 2 months until I move in with C!
