Today I am wearing a form-fitting t-shirt that used to terrify me.  Not much has changed about me - the real difference is in how I see myself.  I’m not worried about all the little lumps and bumps.  So what?  It captures my curves.  It’s a great color for me.  My shape is a work in progress, constantly changing, with many changes still to come, but right now, today, I am beautiful.

In no way related to health or fitness
I am so excited right now, I am just about dancing for joy!  One of my best friends has been accepted into Trinity Dublin’s graduate program!!!!  He’s seriously one of the coolest people I have ever met (and perhaps the only person I’ve ever met who genuinely enjoys reading James Joyce) and he wants to be a literature professor and he got in!!!!  I am not normally one for...

happyhealthyhopeful: The only thing that takes it off and keeps it off? Hard work, healthy habits and a positive attitude. Not a super low cal diet. Not ‘magic foods’. Not weight loss chemicals. Not fasting. Not purging. Not wishing for it- doing it.

I am heading to the gym for my long run. I really, really don’t want to go but I’m not giving in to my inner five-year-old. @fitnewme: my long runs are short and slow. 3.5 miles in 45 minutes.

NY Times: One Size Fits Nobody →
I am SICK of arbitrary sizing.  I would honestly rather see my measurements than a random number and words like “petite.”
Apr 25th
I am just not having a good day.  I still feel sick from yesterday.  You know how you read about the thermogenic effects of food?  Never used to be an issue for me.  Then I ate my whole day in a single meal last night and I feel like I’ve had a fever since about 6.  No actual fever, I’m just uncomfortably warm.  And then this morning I walk into a bad situation at work… basically...

walshcaitlin replied to your post: Weekly mileage summary Run Anne Run! I’m envious because I never learned how to breathe, and always get a stitch in the side. If I keep it up it turns into a cramp. I use the elliptical/bike for cardio instead. Best as I can figure, you need to work to breathe slowly and evenly.  Inhale three steps, exhale three steps, and as I work harder it gets down to...

rippedfuel: Jet Li sucked at Martial Arts when he was a kid. Totally sucked. But its often those who dont care about where the may lay in the scheme of things and - with a great spirit - pursue it anyway that try harder and dont let ‘failures’ get in the way of waking up the next day and trying again. They constantly grow and learn and evolve because they have to. They are not naturally gifted...

Weekly mileage summary
This was my first week on a real running schedule that wasn’t Couch to 5K.  I still can’t believe I finished it.  But.  Here we go. Monday - Hill runs.  My dad lost his job recently so he puppy-faced me into coming home and going to the park instead of the gym.  2.7 miles, 55:00, 2.9 mph. Wednesday - Long run.  3.5 miles, 43:13, 4.8 mph. (Almost two minutes under my goal time!) ...

just to be clear.
lazydieterwrites: You all know that eating a shit ton on a Friday will NOT change the number on the scale on Saturday… Or even Sunday. Right? You have a 2-3 day window for calories to show up as poundage. And, chances are, if you’ve been eating at a deficit ALL WEEK, and you slip up one day, you won’t see any gain at all.  Just less of a loss. (maybe)   There’s only the possibility of water...

It's really hard because my roommate smokes and even if I tell her I am trying to quit and that I don't want to smoke, she will knock on my door and invite me out to smoke every time she does. Anytime I'm grumpy or in low-spirits I give in because it's right in front of my nose. What advice do you have?

I’m really glad I went to the gym today, but man it was tough to get there.  I have a stomach condition that is triggered by stress, and as you might have gathered from certain now-deleted posts, this has been a fairly stressful week for me.  I ate a normal lunch, but normal lunch was enough to trigger a gastro episode - not fun. Basically, if I eat, I need to sleep it off after.  I took a...
