Superheroes aren’t frail: PISSED OFF AT THINSPO
strengthnotfrailty:
I’m pissed of at thinspo sites. As you know.
But today, it is particularly because they keep posting people as thinspo WHO OBVIOUSLY DO NOT WANT TO BE THINSPO. The biggest example is Felice Fawn. How harmful is it for a site or for people to constantly praise someone for having a certain...

It's good to be back!
Today is the first day I’ve really felt like myself. I have, thus far, eaten respectfully, and I got in my first run in (yikes) three weeks. Man, that felt good. I don’t care how my weight changes, I just want to keep feeling like this.

How not to make a burrito.
Dear guy who just made my burrito:
Have you ever been to earth?
On earth, we use the word “burrito” to describe a tortilla filled with things you eat. Pretty simple stuff, and I’m surprised you at least got that part right. My burrito was, in fact, filled with food. In this, you and I agree and are friends. But this is also where my lifelong hatred begins for you and anyone else...
Hunting for lunch today, I found a baggie in the fridge with seven slices of bacon leftover from Sunday brunch. I ate them all, and nothing else.
I regret nothing. Damn, I needed some protein.
C landed a real job today!
In his field of study, no less! He gets to basically quit his crappy foodservice job except for a shift or two a week for pocket money. Right now I am working on yet another real job application - here’s to hoping I can quit my crappy foodservice job, too. (Quick reminder, if you are in the New England area and know of a company that needs someone in marketing, PR or communications, let...

My favorite thing about Honduras was breakfast
Every morning, I would order cafe con leche (whole milk only, and always served just as piping hot as the coffee.) The coffee was so mild and deep that I only needed a scant teaspoon of sugar for it, a new low for my sucrose-addicted self. My mom and I usually split the coctel de frutas, which at the Hotel San Carlos is a dinner plate covered in fresh fruits: grapes, apple slices, little rounds...
beyourimage-deactivated20120623 asked: Thanks for the comment! It is always good to get different feedback. I didn't mean for it to be anti-PR, because I understand and respect the good aspects of PR. I have marketing reps in my family. But working for a non-profit and working for a celeb are different. As part of my starlet series, I was focusing more on the negative aspects of image control as we don't see them or rather...

¡Hola tumblitos! Back stateside, flying the rest of the way home tomorrow. NSV: in a week of baking cookies, I only ate one. Not-so-NSV: I ate a lot of traditional Honduran food, which is very rich. Ready for a week of super-clean eating to recover.
Sarcasm is 0 Calories!: Dear Menfolk, →

You use certain words for more indiscriminately than most of us females do. Your’re subject to reaching toward hyperbole often, either for conversational impact or humor. Just be careful when you’re complimenting us on how much weight we’ve lost. Yesterday, a friend of Boyfriend’s said: “Dude,…
turbogirl asked: I'm so sorry about your friend's brother. That's horrible. Drunk driving is such a stupid, senseless and selfish thing to do. They ALWAYS end up hurting or killing somebody else. It's just a despicable thing to do.
A Day in the Life of a Sexologist: My 26th Year →
sexologist:
Yesterday was my birthday.
It was a great day. Tyler woke me up at 8am with birthday cunnilingus. Now that’s a great way to start my 26th year!
Then I got showered and dressed to start my day and came out to find a card and candy from Carl (that the cat if you’re new to my blog), and in the…

Twisted: Jess Weiner, Jezebel and Glamour →
onegirlnodiet:
A striking example of women’s magazines tweaking the meaning of messages. To summarize, Size-18 body acceptance figure, Jess Weiner, sets out to lose weight after a trip to the doctor after several years revealed she had pre-pre-diabetes.
Glamour titled the original article “Loving my Body Almost Killed Me.” The problem with it is that the automatic (and unnecessary) jump is...

SHE’S ALIVE! And, in Honduras? This is the first I’ve heard of it! What are you doing out there? And you do it every year! You’re even cooler than I first thought.Good for you, Anne.I’m going to be Tumblr absent too from next week as I’m in Vietnam.

Not dead!
Hey, guys, just checking in to let you know I’m not dead. As always, my work here in Honduras is keeping me ten times busier than I ever am at home. The librarian was sick yesterday, so I’m doing all my library work (back pay, buying a computer and printer, negotiating new space with the mayor) tomorrow.
Today and yesterday, I was translating at the clinic and working with the two...

Stop being all or nothing about working out. Just give yourself 20 minutes to kick some booty and you’re done! If you need to, set a timer and just MOVE for 15-20 solid minutes. It can be enough.

Tonight my mom and I are staying at a hotel in Newark to catch an early flight to Honduras. The hotel has a gym. For the first time ever, I actually used the hotel gym. Not only that, but when I left, mom went “Have fun,” and rather than being Old Anne and grumbling about a big nasty workout, I smiled and said “I will! I could use a good run.”

A brawny Cameron Diaz emerges from the Miami sea in a yellow bikini.
But after seeing these pictures, the 38-year-old actress may want to consider toning down her punishing daily workouts.
There was barely a curve to behold on the Hollywood star’s body - instead it has been tirelessly honed and sculpted into a V-shaped washboard stomach and muscular thighs.
She has also...

NSV: food C and family all liked
Well, ok, “liked” is a bit strong. C didn’t dislike it, which is about all I can ask for. His parents both loved it, though. I made baked ziti, adapted from Moosewood’s New Classics. The secret ingredient? C can’t tolerate ricotta cheese, so I replaced it with silken tofu, which cut out a ton of fat and replaced it with lean protein. The sauce has some extra...
Good morning wonderful people
Working on my whirlwind tour of my hometown today, which involves lots of phone calls and packing because we’ll be sleeping at an airport hotel Friday night. I spent last night catching up with my parents and brother, and catching up with my mom meant showing her the nifty recipe book I got at the Borders liquidation sale, and then hunting down all our family recipes so I could write them...

This is not entirely true; one of my translator friends runs for fun, and it’s partly his fault that I decided to try it. But he admitted that he runs indoors on a treadmill, and the city I travel to is decidedly more wild west than the one he’s from. So, no road runs, and I laugh hysterically at the idea of a treadmill in La Entrada.
But the hotel does have a pool. So I’m...
